Ha! Or Not!

Through and through,
It was solid,
You were certain,
Until things were revealed,
When up went the curtain.

Turns out underneath was tarnished,
And the gold was only varnish,
A coating so thin,
It could be cracked,
By just the prick of a pin.

Well it’s dreadfully degrading,
To an object’s rating,
When the cracked paint is peeling,
Being stripped away,
From floor to ceiling.

Ripped from it,
Faster and faster,
No stopping once it’s started,
Leaving it and all associated,
So very broken-hearted.

It’s been stripped bare,
There’s none left now,
But a stubborn speck,
Here or there.

Solid gold,
Was a facade,
A cover-up,
For something majorly flawed.

Tel Mah

So much fun,
And isn’t the attachment rare?
Even so,
I don’t care,
That was yesterday,
But as for today……….I hate you.

Will it change?
I guess that depends,
On how you play your game,
All the innings should be,
Just like the beginning,
Once you stop sowing,
You quit reaping,
As then you’re not worth keeping.

If you turn to slime,
I stop wasting time,
Better halt the acting like,
I’m some gruesome daily grind,
Rather than a relaxing relief,
For your fucked-up mind.

Everyone wants to have their cake,
And eat it too,
And here’s that chance,
Pretty much offered to you,
On a silver platter,
Better figure out,
What’s the matter,
Before it dries up,
Like a dead tree stump.

Whether the near future brings,
A sickening sting,
Or a sunny song to sing,
I guess we shall see,
Which you’ll make be.

Is staying miserable,
All you can handle?
Or can you shut that door,
And move on to what’s in store?
The unknown isn’t really,
All that scary,
I speak from experience,
And P.S.,
This thing isn’t just coincidence.

No Help For It

It’s my favorite,
And I don’t want to get over it,
Though it seems the worst choice to make,
It’s my favorite,
And I don’t want to let go of it.

I’ll confess it doesn’t seem,
Like a prime pick,
And why just any won’t due,
I’ve no clue,
But this one for some reason,
I think would fit like,
A perfectly-broken-in shoe.

As they’re pretty much alike,
That one should be able to,
Just take a hike,
But it’s like I’d like to connect a cable,
Because when I’ve got it around,
I feel slightly more stable.

Such a terrible old thing,
And gives an awful sting,
When it lashes out like lightning,
But still I find,
It makes my life exciting.

Maybe it’s just an addiction,
If so,
That’s one super strong poison,
Even so,
Bring me a big cup,
And I’ll drink it right up.

It deserves a good kick,
But still,
I hope it stands unmoved,
When it gets this reprove,
Since when it’s around,
My life feels improved.

I bet it’s bad to be around,
It’s always pulsing out vicious vibes,
Like an agressive animal,
It may as well bare teeth,
And lunge at feet.

There’s a simultaneous urge,
To push it away,
And pull it closer,
The emotions that surge,
My mind is like a rollercoaster,
Whether from me it’s near or far.

The sight of it,
Has my stomach in knots,
I’m wishing it would just get lost,
But then I’m loving it.

Persistent as a tooth gone rotten,
It just will not be forgotten,
This sunshine might be lost,
But I’ll seek it out,
At any cost.

I Sit Here Contemplating……….

What if people looked to their holy bible,
For their sole means of survival,
Instead of giving up,
When on a stroke of bad luck?

What if grass grew pink,
And with lots of kinks,
Would the animals still want it,
For their main cuisine,
If it were not straight and green?

What if there was no sun,
And there had been none,
Ever since the world had begun,
Would there still be such a thing,
As the dark being frightening?

What if people could fly like birds,
But it was normal not absurd,
Would airplanes still have been invented,
Or the idea not have even been presented?

What if the weather were more even,
And there was no such thing as seasons,
If that were so,
Would Earth be mild, hot, or cold?

What if people were not progressive,
And didn’t desire things impressive,
Would we regress back in time,
And if so,
What exactly would be on the line?

What if the pants of a liar,
Truly did catch on fire,
Would the world turn into a great big blazing pit,
Because it would catch everything around it?

What if everyone got along,
And stood united and strong,
Would the world be one big affair,
Or would people still form pairs?

What if the world were colorblind,
And colors had never been defined,
Would it become less challenging to choose,
Things like clothing and shoes,
And could said articles,
Still reflect one’s personality and mood?

What if more people would fight,
For what they know is right,
Instead of following easy street,
Though they know it ends in defeat?

What if coming home,
Were a better option than to roam,
If people were comfortable,
Sticking to their roots,
Would this not prevent,
Quite a bit of disputes?

What if blue did not mean sad,
And red did not mean mad,
Could anything else describe,
These emotions to which our brains subscribe?

What if money,
Wasn’t everyone’s honey,
If it had never been invented,
Would the world be less demented and tormented?

Undefined

Black and white,
Black for wrong,
And white for right,
But there are things that aren’t fitting,
Of any category,
Every part of life,
Has that gray area,
Where there are exceptions,
And depending on one’s perception,
The deed may garner glory,
Or it may be a deception.

Say a person,
Goes out one night,
And is involved,
In a fight,
It resulted,
In a death,
But no one knows,
That the supposed victim,
Manufactured meth,
That killed the friend,
Of the one we now seek,
To apprehend.

It’s an area,
That can cause hysteria,
Nothing’s black or white,
It’s all ill-defined,
And confuses the mind.

It’s gray,
Where things could sway,
And play either way,
No one’s certain,
Thoughts of which side of the fence,
A verdict could fall,
Leave everyone in suspense.

You’re in between,
Saying yes or no,
It could  spawn nothing,
But it may cause a row,
Maybe no one else would recommend it,
How will you know though,
If you don’t give it a go?

Imagine saying no,
But you said yes,
To that potential beau,
Whether it’s bad or good,
Is as of now a bit fuzzy,
Yes it went,
Against the rules,
But it hurt no one,
And not to do it,
Would have made you a fool.

So you don’t follow the crowd,
And to the majority,
You make no sense,
You live life,
Off the straight and narrow,
It’s not exactly proper,
But neither is it,
Exactly unlawful,
Would you rather hide in a shroud?
Or stand up straight and be proud?

You’ve always said you would never,
But never say never,
Because well,
Maybe,
If it was one hell,
Of a worthwhile endeavor,
Hey that’s that gray area,
Coming into play,
So……….just……….whatever.

Bonfires And Wildfires

This is what it’s like,

To be a flame,

Powerful, mighty,

And entirely untamed.

Hott as I dance,

Purposely putting on a show of destruction,

I am great fun for everyone,

But once in awhile,

That’s not my style,

I get angry and engulf,

Whatever’s in my sights,

For miles and miles.

Lo and behold,

Rains have been scarce,

Now’s the time,

For me to show I can be fierce,

I took hold,

With just a stray spark,

And it won’t take long,

For me to leave,

My devastating mark.

When I’m contained,

I’m pretty and fascinating,

You’re safe to sit at my side,

I’ll be warming and calming,

Not causing pain,

As you’re at my reins.

How can a thing,

One and the same,

Be wild and hair-raising,

Then painted in another light,

Be a most welcome sight?

Well I can have no boundaries,

And consume a whole wood or town,

Or stay within,

Walls you’ve laid down.
