Time Waits For No Man

Ya snooze ya lose,

Change happens,

You shouldn’t have blinked your eye,

Before you gave it a try.

()

Hopeless turned to a high,

Now I can,

Exhale a relaxed sigh,

Sorry man,

If that makes you cry.

()

Divine encounters,

From out of the blue,

Spell the end,

For all those could-have-beens.

()

There’s this thing,

A window of opportunity,

Which would have been the time,

For you to seek unity,

It’s too bad you stalled,

But now this other’s been called.

()

Going once,

Going twice,

And still you never,

Rolled your dice,

Sorry dude,

But the award goes to,

The one who scored.

Ha! Or Not!

Through and through,
It was solid,
You were certain,
Until things were revealed,
When up went the curtain.

Turns out underneath was tarnished,
And the gold was only varnish,
A coating so thin,
It could be cracked,
By just the prick of a pin.

Well it’s dreadfully degrading,
To an object’s rating,
When the cracked paint is peeling,
Being stripped away,
From floor to ceiling.

Ripped from it,
Faster and faster,
No stopping once it’s started,
Leaving it and all associated,
So very broken-hearted.

It’s been stripped bare,
There’s none left now,
But a stubborn speck,
Here or there.

Solid gold,
Was a facade,
A cover-up,
For something majorly flawed.

Letting Go And Letting God (Vindicate)

**********

No, no, no!
No to the lies,
And misrepresentations,
People make up,
Because they’re pissed,
Based on assumptions.

**********

Just give it up,
Cuz anyway,
Here we’re done,
Giving a fuck.

Run away,
Go pout in a corner,
You can nurse your wounds,
With your exaggerations,
And wipe your tears,
With your expectations.

What comes around goes around,
Looks like that’s hitting you now,
And that’s music to the ears,
And makes the heart leer.

Come out,
Come out,
Wherever you are,
Face to face,
What are you?
Afraid to lose the race?

Plot Twist!

Wait,
I thought it was set in stone?
Sewn up tighter than a drum?
…..But now this has come!

In truth,
Something from the situation,
Has always been a little aggravating,
Though a finger couldn’t ever,
Quite be put on it,
What can I say,
It’s always also,
Been plain as day,
And a subject for which I pray.

Now arrives this curveball,
Thrown at me from nowhere,
So unexpected,
But not actually a problem,
And I assure you,
If it’s the answer,
It won’t get rejected.

This can only go,
One of two ways,
And I’m counting the days,
‘Til this is the past,
And good for a few laughs.

Such a delicate decision,
With two top-notch choices,
But only one can win,
And so an invisible,
Battle begins.

To be sure,
Not one knows,
What’s going on,
But me and the,
Almighty God.

With a war in the spirit,
And only one truly right answer,
Letting Him provide it,
Prevents the choice,
From being a cancer.

Soon the solid rock will surface,
None will be winners,
But none will be losers,
His holy will will win,
And forever after,
The life He intends,
Will endure to the end.

Severed Ties To Lies (Better Late Than Never)

It was freeing,
To watch them go,
Like I assumed,
But even more so.

Bye to the bitches,
Bye to the assholes,
Bye to you all,
‘Cuz I’ve regained control.

Unknowing wallowing,
Causing complete and total blinding,
Rendered unable of realizing,
The many possible alternate endings.

For a while there,
All seemed lost,
But answering the call,
Enabled the reclaiming of all.

An invisible mountain,
It blocked all else from sight,
But a few taps,
Was all it took,
To annihilate,
And change the course of fate.

To them all:
You weren’t nothing,
You weren’t shit,
Neither was I to you,
It just took a little longer than it shoulda,
For me to see through.

I’m awake now,
Wide awake,
The party is over,
And in the distance,
I spy a four-leaf-clover.

Better Luck Next Time

And ugly,
Was all that waited at the door,
Ugly,
Too terrible to mention,
And it could be likened,
To nothing preceding it before.

It started at this door,
Just here to the right,
Slyly it got pushed open,
Curiosity was awoken,
And expectancy was high,
But it revealed only a rake,
With rotten tines that poked and prodded,
Yes that door was a mistake.

Parallel to this door,
Was another door,
Hurriedly it was yanked open,
Desperation for a solution,
From the last spoiled door,
Was the only why for,
But all it brought was disappointment,
And need for one more chance,
To vent and repent.

Farther on down the hall,
We have yet another door,
Cautiously it was eased open,
Sadness was secretly the driving factor,
But time had made for quite the actor,
And all surprise was hidden,
Nope there was no cryin’,
When the lamb behind,
Ran off changed – a lion.

Now the next door,
Way over in another wing,
After awhile it was kicked open,
By a dare made when just jokin’,
Although only nonchalance was shown,
There was a hope deep down,
But all it did was drown,
Because behind that door,
Lay a coiled snake,
Who stole all remaining confidence,
When it angrily,
Slithered away.

One day a secret door,
Was seen up in the attic,
When found,
The feeling to ignore was emphatic,
But the ‘what if’ in the mind won out,
And it was shoved open with a silent shout,
A dog was disclosed,
One who loved to play games,
But who could not be tamed,
Before long it was obvious,
This dog was all wrong.

The door after that,
Is hoped to be the final door,
But where is the location,
And are there guts,
To even open it,
Are questions,
For which no one’s got an answer,
Take heed!
Will behind it be,
A snow-white steed?
Or will more ugly supercede?

Everything Has An Expiration

Aren’t you glad you didn’t know,
It would be the last time,
Wouldn’t you agree,
It would have taken away from the shine?

It’s terribly terrible,
And horrifically horrible,
Now that it’s gone,
But knowing when it would go,
Would have even,
Intensified the blow.

For it would have prevented,
That last lovely memory,
Which is now worth more,
Than any money.

It’s a sad, sad world,
Where nothing lasts,
And no one knows when what’s now,
Will become a thing of the past.

Things,
Unfortunately,
Seem meant to die,
But why?

Maybe it’s because,
It wasn’t meant to happen,
It had broken invisible laws,
And brought about out-of-sight applause.

Or maybe it’s because,
Of unseen meddling,
It was truly God’s plan,
But ruined as consequence,
Of unholy Man.

Or possibly because,
It had served its purpose,
And had to move on,
To another circus.

**********
But you ought to believe,
It was the end of an era,
And around the next bend,
Lies a much better end.

Your Salvation

It doesn’t follow fashion,
Or change with the times,
A piece that can be paired,
With this or that,
To even satisfy,
A spoiled brat.

Beauty that cannot be broken,
Such a precious token,
Something to be treasured always,
At which you can,
Repeatedly gaze.

Ageless really,
Without a shadow of a doubt,
Never wearing out,
Not ruined by,
Passage of time,
Going on and on forever,
And stopping never.

Lovely then,
And lovelier now,
Truly deserving,
Of a bow.
A real classic,
Sometimes rustic,
And sometimes fancy,
But forever fantastic.

It’s magnificence,
Will never cease,
Love for it,
Will not decrease,
From great-great-grandma,
To great-great-neice.

Eternally sought after,
More so than love or money,
With it even salty situations,
Seem a little sunny.

Timeless,
It’s essential,
You wouldn’t trade it for the world,
It will always have potential,
There’ll never be a need,
To throw it away,
Even when,
You’ve become old and grey.

The chains are there,
Invisible as air,
Weighing me down like a boulder,
Too heavy for my shoulders.

**********

Now the chains are breaking,
Falling to the ground,
Causing a good sound shaking,
It’s like everyone should feel,
The Earth quaking,
But they can’t,
It’s only me,
As I’m being set free.

The chains rage as they rattle,
They know they’ve lost the battle,
They’d been having fun,
Thinking they’d won,
‘Til I found a new weapon,
And taught them a lesson.

The chains are fastened strong,
And have been there all along,
How they leave no marks,
When they’re starved off,
Is as yet an unsolved mystery.

The chains trick,
The chains deceive,
So good at what they do,
Until they’re seen through,
Now it’s game over,
I’ve learned a slick trick of my own,
That makes them break quick.

Peace must reside,
Where I abide,
Wrath will be felt,
Until the last,
Is in my past,
Good-bye to the bondage,
And hello to the freedom,
Bought for me,
By the bloodshed that happened,
On Calvary.

**********

The chains were there,
Depriving me of air,
But freedom has me light as a feather,
And tough as leather.

A Stroll Down Memory Lane

Your head will become,
Quite the circus,
When everything starts to surface,
It’s totally bizarre,
How it comes from nowhere,
But also everywhere.

No matter who you are,
And where you’re coming from,
You’ve seen some shit,
That you can’t forget,
We pack it away,
Until when one unexpected day,
The feelings left behind,
Spring forth in our mind.

The choicest ones,
Are always amusing,
They’ll take you on,
A wonderful walk,
You’ll smile all rosy,
As if smelling fresh-cut lawn,
Or cinnamon buns.

Some seriously sadden,
So sharply and so strongly,
When you go back there,
Bound wounds open afresh,
And you become such a mess,
That it’s a tad in doubt,
If you’ll manage to crawl out.

The worst will beat you down,
Make you good and angry,
So you wear a frown,
Your blood will begin to boil,
As you recall being treated,
Like a bed of rotting soil.

Once in awhile,
There’ll be one that amazes you,
And makes you wish to travel,
Back to when that one particular,
Was a fresh-made smile.

All the while you’re being assaulted,
With this reminiscing,
Some disappointing,
And others satisfying,
As these recollections flood you,
Mind, body, and soul,
Don’t let them take total control,
No,
Not even the happy moments,
Or you’ll end up going,
Down a deep and depressing hole.
